The Central Florida Research Park is one of the largest in the country and a national hub for military simulation and training.
And today, Orlando has a $13.4 billion technology industry employing 53,000 people.
These conditions, together with the research facilities of some of America's largest enterprises - companies such as Lockheed-Martin, Boeing and AT&T, to name but a few - have encouraged a great deal of innovation and prosperity within the Orlando Municipal area, much of which has originated from patented ideas.
My name is John Rizvi. Along with my partner Glenn Gold, we manage the IP Law Firm of Gold & Rizvi, P.A.
Gold & Rizvi is a specialized legal practice with offices in three states. And we focus exclusively on Intellectual Property Law. At the start of our careers some twenty years ago we made the decision to concentrate on one legal area, and become the best at what we do.
So, what does that mean to a creative individual in the Orlando area that has a product or idea, wants to take it to the next level but needs the help of a professional Patent Attorney in Orlando?
Well, we now enjoy the highest ranking from the prestigious Martindale Hubbel legal directory which has been ranking lawyers based on legal expertise and professional standards since 1868.
We are quoted in numerous publications, and have built a large and growing client base from all over the country.
We think of patent cases as intricate buildings, where if one of the blocks is damaged the whole structure might collapse. Unless our clients have all the necessary components in place to ensure that their invention is protected, they will either not make money or even worse, end up in costly litigation.
One of our firm's strengths is that we are able to offer our clients the full spectrum of service under one roof, an offering that few other law firms can match.
If you have a unique idea or product which you want to protect, we would suggest you consider the full life-cycle of a patent, such as:
Strategy - Your results will be greater if you plan for success, and it is at this stage that we ask our clients a number of questions such as - Is this patent commercially viable? If so, what would be the best way to market it? What might be the difficulties, and how can we overcome them?
A patent is a property right which the government offers to inventors in exchange for their agreement to share the invention with the public. Like any other property it may be licensed, sold, mortgaged or assigned. Which method is the best for your invention? We're here to make sure no mistakes are made at this stage.
Patent Application - this is an exciting stage and one where experience and specialization make the difference. Our fees are attractive and we often file patents for worldwide protection.
We usually start with a manual patent search to highlight any competing applications. Then we would decide together with you on which type of application to focus on - Provisional, Utility and Design are the most common types and each has its own strengths.
And if, as is sometimes the case, the application is turned down we would either make changes and re-apply or submit a "continuation in part application". If these actions do not achieve the required results we may lodge a full appeal.
Enforcement - patent infringements are not always easy to spot and might only be relevant to a single component or a hidden part of a competing product. We take a team approach when examining a product which increases the probability of spotting a potential infringement - and then act in a timely manner to protect your rights. U.S. Law allows us to claim royalties before the patent has been issued - even when your patent is pending.
If you have an idea, or perhaps already have a patented invention and believe that someone has used it without your consent, we would encourage you to take advantage of our offer of a free consultation. Your initial consultation can either be in English or in Spanish (your preference). Just let us know what your preference is.
We can be reached at 407-624-4985 - or you can click on the "Contact Us" link on the upper-right of this page and we'll get back with you as soon as we can.
