Patenting an Invention or idea the Correct Way

Applying for a patent is not always the best first step when looking to patent an idea or invention.

You may end up wasting time and money if your idea or invention already exists or is not otherwise patentable.

We advise this three step process to patent an idea or invention.

Step 1: Initial Strategy

This is a definite must because this is where we plan for your success.

This involves working with you, using our knowledge of the markets, to determine whether your idea or invention is commercially viable. We can then decide the best way to market it.

Step 2: Patent Application

To determine if your idea or invention already exists, we can run an extremely thorough patent search. If we find your idea or invention already exists, there is no point in continuing. If your idea or invention does not exist already, we then discuss what type of application to focus on: A Provisional Utility Application, a Non-Provisional Utility Application, or a Design Patent.

Step 3: Enforcement

When your idea or invention is patented and commercially available, it is important to protect it by making sure it is never stolen or "borrowed". Glenn and I are serious about protecting our clients and enforcing the patent monopoly when called upon to do so.
