Patenting an invention or idea . . . so it has rock-solid protection
When looking to patent an idea or invention, applying for a patent is not always the best first step.
Sometimes your idea or invention already exists or is not otherwise patentable so you could end up wasting your time and money.
When patenting an idea or invention, we advise you to follow this three step process.
Step 1: Initial Strategy
This step is a definite must. It is where we plan for your success.
In determining if your idea or invention is commercially viable, we work with you using our knowledge of the markets. Next, we find the best way to market it.
Step 2: Patent Application
Many inventors and business owners are familiar with this step. We can run an extremely thorough patent search to make sure your idea or invention does not already exist. If it does exist, there is no point in moving further. If it does not exist, we then discuss which type of application to focus on: A Provisional Utility Application, a Non-Provisional Utility Application, or a Design Patent. Sometimes more than one patent type will be recommended.
Step 3: Enforcement
Once you have your patent and your idea or invention is commercially available, protecting it is key. We are very aggressive when protecting our clients and enforcing the patent monopoly by making sure your idea or invention is never stolen or "borrowed". If this does occur, our clients can call us immediately to intervene on their behalf.
